Fresh Meat and A-Word actor is joined by The Dolls for the festive extravaganza, with added 3D tricks to thrill the whole family

In news that's bound to thrill lovers of Scottish comedy and festive entertainment, it's been announced that Greg McHugh is to star in this year's SEC Armadillo pantomime, premiering Sat 16 Dec. Tickets are on sale now.

McHugh, famed for his comic creation Gary: Tank Commander, will perform a central role in Jack and the Beanstalk. As Gary Trot – brother of Jack – he's responsible for foolishly selling the family cow for a measly bag of beans. Those beans turn out to be no ordinary beans, indeed they are magic beans with powers beyond the comprehension of mere mortals. Madness – the good clean family friendly kind – ensues.

McHugh, who also starred as Howard in Fresh Meat, and Eddie Scott in The A Word, will be joined in the production The Dolls (Only An Excuse's Louise McCarthy and River City's Gayle Telfer Stevens). The duo will play the role of Gary's naughtie anties, Agnes and Sadie.

The SEC panto, which in previous years has featured John Barrowman and The Krankies, comes with 3D benefits, so you can pop on your glasses and disappear into the depths of the forest with the Trot family, with surprises and laughs awaiting behind every tree.

Tickets for Jack and the Beanstalk are available now, with special early bird prices available before May 31. Oh no they didn't!
