OMD to tour UK and Ireland in support of The Punishment of Luxury

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark have announced a UK and Ireland tour in support of their 13th studio album The Punishment of Luxury, with tickets on sale Fri 19 May at 9am.
Formed in the Wirral in 1978, they evolved into pioneers of synthpop, with the likes of The xx, the Killers and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy championing their influence on the genre. During their 1980s heyday OMD enjoyed chart success with 'Enola Gay', 'Souvenir', 'Talking Loud and Clear' and 'Joan of Arc', gaining critical acclaim to go along with commercial hits.
The Punishment of Luxury is another daring collection of stylistic tunes from Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys. McCluskey said: 'On this album we've managed to make beautiful things out of noises and repetitive patterns. The trouble is, we just can't help but write a catchy
The tour kicks off at Dublin's Vicar Street on Mon 23 Oct, running through to Wed 22 Nov at the Sage Gateshead. In between times there's a homecoming of sorts on Merseyside, with a show at Liverpool's Empire Theatre on Sun 29 Oct.
