I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! to move?
Bosses are reportedly toying with the idea of moving 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' to a different location in two years' time
'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' is set to be shot in a different location.
ITV bosses are reportedly toying with the idea of moving the filming set to Kangeroo Island, a 35-minute journey from Adelaide, in South Australia, when their contract with Springbrook National Park in New South Wales - where the programme has been filmed since 2003 - expires in two years' time after they were approached by the government.
In a letter to ITV boss Kevin Lygo, agent general Bill Muirhead said: "With a third of the island covered by national parks, Kangeroo Island is teeming with creatures not found anywhere else, most of which we're more than happy for people to eat on TV."
Mr. Muirhead has stressed the change will give the area a major tourism boost and will allow viewers back home in the UK to see something different for the first time in 15 years.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he added: "Looking forward to 2020, could it be time for a change? I ask you to consider Kangaroo Island, a place pulsating with all the wonder and weirdness Australia has to offer, an island with a name that seems straight out of a story of buccaneers and bushrangers.
"Just think what you could do with the assorted members of 'TOWIE', 'Made in Chelsea', the ginger one from Girls Aloud and anyone else you Poms want to see the back of."
And it seems like the change could have come along at the right time as it was reported last year - just before the last series kicked off - that the owner of the current site Craig Parker wasn't planning to renew the contract following a disagreement with show bosses.
A source said at the time: "The relationship between Craig and the bosses has badly broken down. He's always found hosting the show on his land frustrating, but in the past has considered it worth the money they throw at him. But this year's different. There have been lots of small squabbles in which he feels his opinions have been totally ignored. He is sick and tired of having the cast and crew there. He can pretty much name his price. But so far he is adamant he will not be changing his mind."
