September event at SSE Hydro will celebrate iconic Glasgow venue The Arches and the music that made it memorable
Colours and the Scottish Festival Orchestra have teamed up for a celebration of some of dance music's most recognisable hits at the SSE Hydro with tickets on sale Fri 28 Apr at 10am.
The event is a tribute to The Arches, the much missed Glasgow venue that proved so influential both in Scotland and the world over, and the 60-piece orchestra will offer their take on the tracks that were so central to Colour's 20-year residency there. Between 1995 and 2015 they brought the biggest names in dance to Scotland, including David Guetta, Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and Eric Prydz.
An era-defining selection of tracks will be played at the event by the Scottish Festival Orchestra, a group no strangers to collaboration, having worked with the likes of Ben Folds, Nicola Benedetti, Belle and Sebastian, Idina Menzel and Eddi Reader and the Chieftains. They'll be joined on the night by the Tron Community Choir – formerly The Arches Community Choir.
The administrator for all the orchestra's activities is independent orchestra contractor and professional freelance cellist John Davidson, who says he was delighted to assemble his players for this fantastic event. He added: 'The partnership of a full size orchestra and club brand will certainly be an incredibly hot ticket. Having performed at this awesome venue a number of times, the atmosphere with thousands in attendance will undoubtedly be a most memorable one and we're greatly looking forward the concert.'
Tickets Colours and the Scottish Festival Orchestra go on sale Fri 28 Apr at 10am.
