Marathons, half-marathons and 10km races in Dundee, Perthshire, Inverness and more
London Marathon is hands down one of the most inspirational sporting events broadcast on TV. Granted the BBC coverage has it flaws, they often miss the key moment when an elite leader makes the break from the pack because they're interviewing a guy dressed as a chicken chasing a Guinness World Record, but we'll forgive them because they also bring us an emotional mix of heart-warming/heart-wrenching stories. There are people who have beaten illness and serious injury, people who are remembering loved ones they have recently lost and thousands of people running to raise money for vital charities. Over 23,000 people run London Marathon, running for hundreds of different reasons but all chasing that same dream, to run 26.2 miles to glory. After you've had a good weep on the sofa and feel duly motivated to get in on the action here's some marathons happening across Scotland throughout 2017, as well as some half marathons and 10kms to mix it up.
The Dundee Marathon really wanted a cool acronym, so they named themselves the Dundee Running Adventure Marathon, or DRAM. The route uses the green circular which surrounds Dundee and is a mixture of path, trail, road and pavement. There's also a half marathon option on the same day.
