Nathan Massey has confirmed his split from Cara Del La Hoyde and has said though it is a "tough" decision they will do their best to stay friends
Nathan Massey has broken his silence on his split from Cara Del La Hoyde.
The 'Love Island' winners struck up a relationship whilst inside the infamous villa last year, but decided to call time on their romance after a series of "silly rows" made it impossible for them to stay together, and now the hunk has taken to Twitter to confirm they've gone their separate ways, but will do all they can to remain friends.
Taking to the micro-blogging site on Wednesday (12.04.17), he wrote: "Me and Cara have split, we've had the best summer of our lives but it's been a tough few weeks and wish her the best of luck for the future (sic)"
An insider recently claimed though it was a hard break up, they want to stay close.
The source said: "They've both mutually agreed to call it quits. It hasn't been an easy decision but in the end they decided things would be better apart. They stayed really amicable and will definitely do all they can to be friendly."
The news of their split came after the couple admitted they don't regret the numerous times they were seen getting hot and heavy beneath the sheets whilst appearing on the ITV reality show, because they thoroughly enjoyed the backlash they received.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the National Television Awards in January, Nathan, 24, said: "We didn't get involved in drama in the house and we don't get involved in drama outside. We keep very drama-free, only with each other when she throws water over me."
Whilst 26-year-old Cara added: I watch 'Game of Thrones' and 'Game of Thrones' is all minnies and willies. And that is the best show on TV, so if they're doing it. We've been nominated for a National Television Award so it can't be that bad."
Meanwhile, it was previously reported the pair are set to become permanent cast members on 'The Only Way Is Essex', after having previously made cameo appearances both last year and last month.
The pair joined their friends Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallet to celebrate at an Irish-themed party ahead of St. Patrick's Day last month, which set tongues wagging about the pair becoming a permanent fixture on the programme.
