'Sounds of the 60s' radio presenter Brian Matthew is not dead but is "critically ill", a new BBC statement has revealed just hours after announcing his passing.
A statement issued by the BBC had claimed the veteran Radio 2 broadcaster had died on Tuesday night (04.04.17) but new information released to media now states that he is in fact still alive.
The BBC said in a fresh statement: "We were informed by close family and friends that Brian had passed away in the night. They have since been in contact to say that he remains critically ill. We will update with more information when we have it. Our thoughts remain with his family at this very difficult time."
