Mariah Carey paid tribute to the late George Michael with a rendition of his song 'One More Try' at her concert in Dubai

Mariah Carey honoured George Michael at her concert in Dubai on Friday (31.03.17).

The 'Hero' hitmaker paid a heartfelt tribute to the late singer - whose funeral took place last week, three months after he was found dead from natural causes on Christmas Day (25.12.16) - with a cover of his 1987 ballad 'One More Try', which she described as "one of his greatest records".

She told her audience: "I always loved it, I always loved him. He was a really great person."

The 47-year-old singer asked the crowd to use their phones to shine lights in honour of George, and sighed before she said: "We'll make it through this."

Mariah shared a video of the performance on Facebook, describing it as her "heartfelt tribute".

She captioned the video: "We miss you, George Michael."

This isn't the first time Mariah has honoured one of her heroes at a concert.

Shortly after Prince died from a Fentanyl overdose last April, she asked her audience in Paris for a moment of silence to reflect on the 'Purple Rain' hitmaker.

She said: "He was a friend to me too and he talked me through some times I really, really needed somebody ... he was an incredible person if you didn't ever get to meet him and I'm sure his music touched every single person in here. So, let's have a moment of silence for Prince if we could please ...

"It's a very sad day but we remember the life of somebody who will always be treasured ... It's such a loss that he's gone. I'll never get over it."
