Metallica announce five UK dates as part of their WorldWired Tour
Metal lords visit the UK this October in support of new album Hardwired… To Self-Destruct
Metallica have announced they will play London, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham as part of their WorldWired Tour. The tour is in support of their latest album, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct, which was released on 18 Nov 2016 on Metallica's own Blackened Recordings record label. The album debuted at No 1 around the world, selling over 800,000 copies worldwide in its first week.
So far the WorldWired Tour has dates announced in South America, Europe, the United States and Canada. Metallica was the first act to ever play all seven continents all within a year, when they performed in a rare concert in Antarctica in Dec 2013, so flippers crossed penguins that they return.
Metallica formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield and have sold 110 million albums worldwide. They became one of the big four of thrash and have scored several multi-platinum albums, including 1991's Metallica (commonly referred to as The Black Album), with sales of nearly 17 million copies in the United States alone. Metallica has also garnered numerous awards and accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.
