Tragic death of teenager is second in a row at fledgling festival
A man has died at the Rock Ness music festival in Dores, near Inverness, in the Scottish Highlands.
Ryan Munro, 18 from Hopeman in Moray was found unconscious by Red Cross staff at 2.30pm on Saturday in front of the main stage.
He was treated at the scene before being transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where he later died.
The caused of death has not been announced.
Supt David O'Connor of Northern constabulary said: "It's a loss of life, it's very tragic. It's very sad and our condolences must go to the family of the youth involved. I've said for the last week that in terms of drug enforcement activities we'll be taking a robust stance. We've worked very hard with other agencies and the organisers to get the drugs educational message out in the period leading up to RockNess commencing on Friday."
Police made only a small number of arrests throughout the event and last night praised the behaviour of festival revellers.
Jim King, the director of Rockness, said the thoughts of everyone involved with the festival were with Mr Munro's family.
