Event will focus on the theme 'Lead or Follow'
The fifth edition of the TEDxGlasgow event is coming to the SEC Armadillo this summer for another packed day of talks from inspirational speakers on topics ranging from technology to art and design. The official theme of the event, 'Lead or Follow', will be explored and discussed in depth by delegates from all over the UK on 2 Jun.
Last year's TEDxGlasgow event at the Theatre Royal was a massive success, featuring speakers from BrewDog, BBC, the world of couture fashion and security software and hardware company Sophos. This year's speakers are still to be announced but the event itself is expected to attract over 1800 delegates, a significant increase from previous years.
The chosen theme will ask delegates to examine their thoughts on the benefits of leading or following in today's society. With Glasgow being a city that has been a leader in industry and innovation in the past, the chosen speakers will aim to look at how shifts in culture and technology have allowed followers to grow in terms of influence and power, switching up expected roles.
TEDxGlasgow will also be kick-starting the TEDxGlasgow Award this year for the first time, providing the winner the unique opportunity to be mentored by some of the best business coaches in the UK.
Gurjit Singh Lalli, curator of TEDxGlasgow and entrepreneur, said: 'TEDxGlasgow 2017 is going to be a celebration of Scotland's brightest and best. We are not your average industry event, we cross into all fields and disciplines to really uncover topics worth exploring and unite thinkers froAm all different backgrounds. As an organisation, we don't just believe in ideas worth sharing, we focus on ideas worth doing. We are driven to create lasting impact and positive change in both our local Glasgow communities and further afield.'
SEC Armadillo, Glasgow, Fri 2 Jun; £70 (£35). Tickets and speaker nominations are open now.
