Support acts announced for Green Day and Phil Collins' BST shows
Rancid, Gogol Bordello and Blondie are among the lineup of special guests
We already know that British Summer Time Hyde Park's annual get together features Green Day and Phil Collins headlining the first two nights. But to make both shows that little bit more exciting, a whole host of bands have just been announced as special guests, completing an already terrific lineup of acts.
Joining Phil Collins on his Not Dead Yet: Live tour date at Hyde Park on Fri 30 Jun is legendary group Blondie, featuring Debbie Harry, Chris Stein and Clem Burke, along with newer members Leigh Foxx, guitarist Tommy Kessler and keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen. With Blondie's new album due imminently, their guest slot at BST will be a great chance to catch new songs as well as classics.
Also on the lineup is fellow Genesis bandmate Mike Rutherford and his supergroup Mike + The Mechanics, whose appearance will be part of a sold-out 30 date UK tour. Starsailor will complete the line-up, having reformed in 2014 and embarked on a number of tours since.
Green Day's BST gig the following day on Sat 1 Jul will be one not to miss, with eight other massive bands added to the bill. Providing support during the European leg of Green Day's mammoth Revolution Radio world tour, Rancid will once again take on support act duties, bringing their raucous brand of punk to the Hyde Park stage.
New York gypsy punks Gogol Bordello will also join the lineup, as well as Sweden's The Hives and Australian punk rockers The Living End. Beach Slang, SWMRs, Sunflower Bean and Public Access TV will make appearances, rounding off what is bound to be an excellent show.
Also headlining at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2017 is Justin Bieber (2 Jul), Kings of Leon (6 Jul), The Killers (8 Jul) and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (9 Jul). Full supporting line-ups are to be announced.
Tickets on sale now starting at £85 for Phil Collins and £62.50 for Green Day.
