Kelburn Garden Party cancelled
Staffing requirement set by police forces organisers of Largs festival to pull event
The Kelburn Garden Party, a music festival due to be held between Friday 4th and Sunday 6th July in Kelburn near Largs in Ayrshire, has been cancelled by the organisers.
The cancellation followed a management meeting in which it emerge that Strathclyde police would require a staffing level at the 3-day music festival that would more than double the organisers’ production costs.
The bill for the music festival included Scottish acts such as Orkestra Del Sol, James Yorkston, Found, A Band Called Quinn and Amplifico.
2008 was to be the debut year for the festival, which was to take place in the ground of Kelburn Castle 35 miles west of Glasgow, and the organisers hope the festival will go ahead in 2009.
A full refund will be given to those who have bought tickets.
