Aphex Twin announces headline show

Field Day 2017 will be the producer's first headliner in more than a decade

London's Field Day has announced that Aphex Twin will headline the 2017 festival.

Launching a new addition to the festival, a second indoor main stage area called The Barn, Field Day has created a space for major electronic performances, with scope for innovative sound and lighting set-ups. Enigmatic producer, Aphex Twin (aka Richard D James) will appear at the new arena, using the opportunity to play his first headline show in more than a decade.

Aphex Twin needs no introduction: a tour-de-force in the music industry since forming Rephlex Records in 1993, he is well known for the videos that accompany his music. Often uncanny and disturbing (think Window Licker or Rubber Johnny), his most recent (for CRKLON3, and his first in 17 years) dropped in June of this year and was directed by a 12 year old.

The 2017 Field Day will be the festival's 11th year and booking Aphex Twin confirms its reputation for nabbing class acts to perform: past years have seen PJ Harvey, Patti Smith and the Pixies grace the stages.

Tickets for Field Day go on sale on Thu 1 Dec.
