Nationwide programme of book events features Alan Cumming, Sir Tony Robinson, Jodi Picoult and Chris Brookmyre
Scotland's annual celebration of all things books returns this November with a packed programme of events and activities for children, adults and communities to enjoy. Book Week Scotland aims to bring some of the country's best-loved authors, poets, playwrights and illustrators to libraries, bookshops and venues all over Scotland to encourage reading and to honour Scotland's great literary culture.
Head to Dundee to see Alan Cumming in conversation with Muriel Gray, discussing his new book You Gotta Get Bigger Dreams or have a literary lunch with Alexander McCall Smith, in an event organised by East Lothian Libraries. Other highlights include Liz Lochhead, Sir Tony Robinson, Jodi Picoult and Chris Brookmyre.
With this year's theme being discovery, booklovers will be encouraged to find their perfect book match or the quintessential Christmas present for a friend using the Book Generator quiz on the Book Week Scotland website as well as suggestions from celebrities and authors. There will also be the opportunity to take on a Reading Dare which may just challenge you to try something new or unexpected. The big finale will see the unveiling of the nation's 10 favourite Scottish book-to-screen adaptations, as chosen by you. Cast your vote at bookweekscotland.com now to avoid missing out.
