The story follows an American officer (played by Pierce), who is serving in Italy after the events of World War II. When he is presented with the news that he is suffering from a terminal illness, he opts to spend a weekend in quiet solitude and commandeers a military driver to visit his old haunts in Venice. As his journey continues, he meets a young countess who begins to bestow him with the hope of renewal.

Maria, 29, will play the countess, while Isabella will portray the formidable Contessa Contorini, the countess' mother.
