Glasgow International Jazz Festival lineup announced
Grammy–award winner Buddy Guy will headline this year's Glasgow International Jazz Festival. Guy will be joined on the bill by Birth of the Cool alto sax player Lee Konitz and Mari Wilson, best known for 80s hit 'Just What I've Always Wanted'.
The line-up also includes international acts such as Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, saxophonist Bobby Watson with his Live & Learn Sextet and avant garde trumpeter Tomasz Stanko. Rock and pop remixes and West Coast blues will come courtesy of The Bad Plus and Herb Geller, respectively.
The Scottish Showcase, Homegrown, will this year expand to a full weekend and boast over 70 fringe events for all ages, with local talent the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra performing a tribute to Steely Dan.
Those looking for a bit of R&R can head for the annual Riverboat Shuffle, which will sail down the River Clyde on the PS Waverley, to the tune of some of the festival's finest jazz.
The festival runs from Fri 20–Sun 29 Jun. See www.jazzfest.co.uk
