Top Elvis impersonator Shawn Klush touring with the King's original band members
The King is dead – long live the King
This article is from 2016.
'Elvis ain't dead,' proclaimed Scouting for Girls in 2007 in a tawdry attempt to exploit the name of a legendary cultural icon for commercial gain. But, of course, he is. Now, almost four decades since the King passed on, his original band members are touring the UK in a lavish production led by the world's most successful Elvis tribute artist.
Elvis impersonator Shawn Klush first came to attention on the BBC's 'World's Greatest Elvis' before being crowned as the first ever 'Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion' in the King's home town of Memphis, Tennessee.
Klush has since gone on to tour across the US, South America, Europe and Australia, and is now set to return to the UK with his live band, orchestra and original Elvis band members, The Sweet Inspirations.
Original band member Estelle Brown, 71, says of Klush, 'Shawn is the closest that anyone will ever get to him. I'm not saying he's exactly Elvis, but he's as close as anyone will ever get. We have a wonderful time working together.'
