A guide to the bonfire night fireworks displays in and around Plymouth, Torquay and Exeter 2016

Plymouth's biggest bonfire and firework display is held at The Hoe (Sat 5 Nov). Expect fun fair rides and catering stands from 4pm with entertainment provided by Radio Plymouth. The bonfire is lit at 7.30pm and the fireworks display set off from the Citadel at 8pm. The venue is also home to 2017's British Firework Championships.

North of Plymouth, Callington Community College in Callington host an evening celebrating Guy Fawkes (Sat 5 Nov) with live music, Pirate FM and a hog roast. Gates open at 5.30pm with the display beginning at 8pm. To the west, Peak Rock changes colour thanks to the fireworks overhead at Polperro Peak Rock Fireworks Display and Bonfire (Sat 5 Nov). The evening also features a Guy competition and a barbecue held on Looe's Polperro Quay. Another Looe based celebration is the Lanreath Firework Display (Sat 29 Oct), a traditional bonfire night complete with firework display beginning at 7pm.

Exeter celebrate bonfire night with an evening of fairground rides, live music, food and drink at Exeter Golf & Country Club on Fri 4 Nov. Then on Sat 5 Nov Westpoint Arena is the venue for Exeter Round Table's charity display. Gates open at 5.30pm and there's fun fair rides and food stalls to keep to busy until the fireworks at 7.30pm. There's also a Halloween disco and children are encouraged to come in fancy dress. Complete the weekend with a fireworks display at the Saracens grounds on Sun 6 Nov. With the gates opening at 5.30pm there are toffee apples, mulled wine and a barbecue to enjoy before the skies light up.

Over in Torquay a massive 3,000 people are expected to attend this fireworks display at Sherwell Valley Primary School. The gates open at 3pm and there are children's rides, a bouncy castle, toddler soft play area, bull ride and food stalls selling hog roast, jacket potatoes and hot dogs. In Abbotskerswell head to the playing fields on Slade Lane on Sat 5 Nov for some pyrotechnic delights.

Fireworks display at the Saracens grounds. With the gates opening at 5.30pm there are toffee apples, mulled wine and a barbecue to enjoy before the skies light up.

Sherwell Valley Primary School Fireworks Display
