The Night Afore Concert with Paolo Nutini will see the singer perform an extra date in the city
Hogmanay may be a while off yet but the recent announcement of Paolo Nutini as the headliner for the annual Concert in the Gardens has encouraged many party-goers to get organised. So much so that the concert sold out in a record three hours. But fear not Nutini fans, an extra date has just been announced meaning anyone that missed out the first time round will get another chance to see the headliner perform in Edinburgh.
Following the release of Caustic Love in 2014, Nutini toured extensively before deciding to take a brief hiatus in 2016. Edinburgh's Hogmanay was due to be the Paisley-born singer's only festival appearance of 2016, which would also mark the 10th anniversary of his debut album These Streets. But upon hearing about the overwhelming response to his headline slot, it was decided that a second concert would be arranged to fulfil the demand.
Night Afore Concert with Paolo Nutini will take place on Friday 30 December in West Princes Street Gardens, providing an opportunity to end the year with a double dose of Nutini. On adding the second show, he noted: 'I was in the desert when I heard about the response to the first show. I was overwhelmed and am incredibly grateful for the support.'
Al Thomson, Director of Edinburgh's Hogmanay, added: 'To have Paolo Nutini headline one show at Edinburgh's Hogmanay is an incredible achievement, to be adding a second show is just phenomenal, for the festival, the city and most importantly for the thousands of fans who missed out on tickets for Concert in the Gardens on Hogmanay itself.'
Edinburgh's Hogmanay drew 150,000 visitors from around 80 countries last year, and is expected to be another sell-out this year, with a huge number of events and attractions on offer across three days.
Tickets for Night Afore Concert with Paolo Nutini will go on sale on Fri 21 Oct at 10am.
