Jason Statham has admitted that he thinks he's "more suited" for action movies over courtroom dramas
Jason Statham believes he's "more suited" to action movies than other genres.
The 49-year-old actor has admitted that he doesn't think dramas are his thing, and that he's "more suited" toward action-packed movies because he gets more "fulfilment" out of them.
Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of new film 'Mechanic: Resurrection', he said: "I think I'm more suited to action movies than courtroom dramas, so I tend to stick to those. It's something that I get a lot of fulfilment out of.
"I feel I'm better at those than I am at other stuff. I play to my strength I suppose."
Dennis Gansel, director of 'Mechanic: Resurrection', backed up the British actor's comments, saying that he believes Jason is a true "action star" and is so good at terrifying stunts, he could consider a second career as a body double.
He said: "I've been a fan of him [Jason] since day one in the Guy Ritchie movies. He turned himself into this action star. I think he's the most diverse and interesting guy working in the industry today.
"If he wouldn't be an A-list star, he would be one of the best stuntmen working out there."
But the 'Snatch' actor - who is engaged to supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - wasn't always destined for the big screen. In 1990, the star actually represented England in diving at the Commonwealth Games in New Zealand, though looking back on it now he believes he may have chosen the wrong sport.
He said: "It's a bit of a sore point that I never got to the Olympics. I just heard they [the Great Britain diving team] just got seven million [pounds] or something for the diving per year. They deserve it. The divers we've got now are just terrific. I started too late. It probably wasn't my thing. I should have done a different sport."
