Accio Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Potter fever strikes again as the latest story set in JK Rowling's wizarding world is available to buy on the stroke of midnight on Sun 31 Jul, which is also Harry Potter's birthday.
To catch you up, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a West-End stage play, based on an original new story by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. It's the eighth story in the wildly successful Harry Potter series and the first one to be represented on stage. Previews have already begun, with the world premiere taking place on Sat 30 Jul. Tickets for the show are currently sold out, however, it was announced today that a further quarter of a million tickets will be released on 4 August 2016, for performances through to December 2017.
On the same day as the world premiere the script of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is available to buy. Retailers up and down the country are opening their doors on Saturday night so fans can pick up a copy on the stroke of midnight and start reading immediately. Those who dawdled through Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will remember how infuriating it was to hear a certain headmaster dies before you reach that chapter.
Launch events at Waterstones include midnight parties with costume competitions, Quidditch beer pong and quizzes, celebratory breakfasts in honour of Harry's birthday and magical fun days on Sunday.
