David Bowie's musical 'Lazarus'- inspired by the book 'The Man Who Fell To Earth' - will open on London in October
The David Bowie musical 'Lazarus' is to open in London.
Following a sold out run at the New York Theatre Workshop from 18 November 2015 to 20 January 2016, the production will open at the Kings Cross Theatre on 25 October and will run until 22 January 2017.
The show is intended to be a sequel to Walter Tevis' book 'The Man Who Fell To Earth' - which was turned into a 1976 film which Bowie starred in - and was co-written by the late British musician and Irish playwright Enda Walsh.
'Lazarus' - which shares its name with a Bowie song included on his last album 'Black Star' - focuses on the character Thomas Jerome Newton, a human-looking alien who comes to Earth and is unable to die who hopes the arrival of another lost soul into his life could set him free.
The musical will be directed by 'A View From the Bridge' director Ivo van Hove and original cast members from New York are joining the production including Michael C Hall of 'Dexter' fame.
Bowie passed away in January 2016 at the age of 69 after losing a battle with liver cancer.
