Academy Events and Fireball offering eight bands the chance to support the ska punk outfit

Less Than Jake (aka, the only modern-day band who can still get away with wearing snapbacks in their promo shots), are heading out on tour this October, accompanied by British reggae torchbearers the Skints and Los Angeles rockers, Mariachi El Bronx.

You may be thinking to yourself, 'three bands, my, what a satisfactory lineup. I will happily buy a ticket to see this trio of musical groups live'. Well hold your horses there friend, because Academy Events and Fireball have teamed up to bring a fourth act to the stage, and that act is you! Well, maybe. If you are in a band local to one of eight specific cities, and you enter their competition before the clearly stated deadline and then ultimately get selected as one of eight winners, that is. Allow us to explain a little.

Local bands can apply to support Less Than Jake and the rest on the 'Fireball – Fuelling the Fire' tour. The tour has dates at Academy venues in eight UK cities, including Glasgow, Newcastle and London. If you are a local band in any one of those cities, you may be selected to open the gig. Chosen acts will enjoy full branded Fireball backline provided for the gig on their behalf. Fancy.

Entrants can submit their name in for consideration, and the competition closes on Sun 14 Aug at 11.59pm. Winners will be judged and selected by a panel of experts, journalists and the bands from the tour. You can find the full terms and conditions on the Academy Music website.
