Tonight Alive were inspired by Bring Me The Horizon to start making their own style of music

Tonight Alive were inspired by Bring Me The Horizon to create their "own genre".

The 'Drive' singer Jenna got "goosebumps" when she heard the popular Sheffield band picked up the Innovation Award at the NME awards last week and said the 'Happy Song' hitmaker's transformation from a heavy metal band to their own sound made them want to do the same.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Jenna, 23, said: "We are totally inspired by Bring Me The Horizon. I got goosebumps when I heard they won the NME Innovation Award. It inspired us to want to create our own genre too."

The blonde beauty went on to say how music fans are "trained" to believe a pop song has to be a "top 40 record", but insists it is not true because pop music simply means "popular".

She added: "Bring Me The Horizon is pop. The sentence sounds wrong coming out of our mouths because we are trained to believe that pop is a top 40 record. They are a metal band but now they are a metal band who sings. Pop just means popular music."

Tonight Alive are currently on tour in the UK in support of their LP 'Limitless', which will be released via Sony Records on March 4.
