Teen Mom UK to hit screens this year
MTV is creating a British version of the controversial reality TV show 'Teen Mom' later this year and bosses are on the hunt for "four or five" girls to star in the show
'Teen Mom UK' is set to hit screens later this year.
MTV has announced it's creating a British version of the controversial reality TV show, which depicts the lives of a group of teenage girls as they become young mothers, following the five-year success it's had across the pond.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Within hours of announcing 'Teen Mom UK' we were inundated with applications - and the buzz on social media has been incredible. Bosses think the British version of the show could go on to be just as successful as the American original."
Producers are hoping to find "four or five" girls in the UK who will share the highs and lows of being a young mum as the network plans to create a heartbreaking eight-part series.
'Teen Mom' first aired in the US in 2009 as a spin-off to the programme '16 and Pregnant' and is now in its sixth series.
Over the past five years, the show has made stars out of Farrah Abraham, who later found fame in the UK after starring in 'Celebrity Big Brother', and Amber Portwood.
But it hasn't been easy for the young mums as Amber documented her battle with drugs on television and Farrah has since come under fire for starring in a sex tape.
However, bosses in the UK are adamant the British version of the reality series won't be as jaw-dropping as the US'.
