Late Motörhead singer Lemmy will be remembered with a 12-hour memorial service at his favourite drinking haunt The Rainbow Bar and Grill in Hollywood on January 9

Late Motörhead frontman Lemmy will be remembered at a tribute night by his The Rainbow Bar and Grill in Hollywood.

The 'Ace of Spades' hitmaker - who passed away aged 70 last month after a short battle with an "extremely aggressive cancer" - will be remembered on January 9 with a special 12-hour memorial at the West Hollywood drinking den on the Sunset Strip which he considered his spiritual home.

The Los Angeles bar's owner Mikael Maglieri, comforted the late rocker by installing his favourite video game from the bar into his home so he could play it in his finals hours.

Maglieri announced the event on The Rainbow Bar and Grill's Facebook page - along with an image of Lemmy playing the game.

The post read: "Join us as we say goodbye to a dear friend and loved one. We will open our doors at 2pm. Come celebrate the life of Lemmy Kilmister. Legends never die."

Since it was revealed Lemmy had died on December 28 The Rainbow Bar and Grill has become a makeshift shrine to the rocker with fans leaving tributes and memorials outside the venue.
