Corrie Sally to turn to politics
Sally Dynevor's 'Coronation Street' alter ego Sally Metcalfe will get involved with local politics next year
Coronation Street's Sally Metcalfe will turn to politics next year.
The soap stalwart, who is played by Sally Dynevor, is going to try to make her mark on the political scene in Weatherfield and even has some backing from the locals.
Actress Sally said: "There's no sign of Sally's ambition waning - she's going to be taking on local politics in 2016."
While the comical character's husband Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) doesn't lend her much support on the political trail, she does manage to rally around the locals to get some serious backing.
Joe said: "Tim's not interested in any of that at all, of course, although Sally would quite like him to be her Denis Thatcher."
Sally added to Inside Soap magazine: "He's not bothered at all. He just stands behind her, raising his eyebrows. But it's a great storyline - we've already started filming it and it has been really fun.
"Sally has Ken, Norris and Mary all on board with her - so I reckon she's going to do quite well."
