Peter Capaldi rules out The Thick Of It return
Peter Capaldi won't return to 'The Thick Of It' to play foul-mouthed spin-doctor Malcolm Tucker.
Peter Capaldi won't return to 'The Thick Of It'.
The 57-year-old 'Doctor Who' star played foul-mouthed spin-doctor Malcolm Tucker on the BBC political satire until it was cancelled in 2012 and creator Armando Iannucci says Peter has ruled out a comeback because he doesn't want to be defined by the character.
Armando told The Sun: "I do get emails saying, 'Any chance?' But Peter won't be swayed. Before he became the Doctor, we decided we were going to bring it to an end.
"That was the right decision, I think particularly for him. I know he wanted to move on and do something else and didn't want to be defined as just Malcolm Tucker."
And Armondo hinted that Peter may not want to revive the profanity-loving Tucker now that he is the star of family-friendly show 'Doctor Who'.
He added: "I am interested to see how many kids have looked up Peter on YouTube and watched hours of intense swearing - that amuses me."
Meanwhile, the 'Doctor Who' Christmas special, 'The Husbands Of River Song', will see Peter's Doctor reunite with River Song following the departure of his companion Clara.
