British star Eddie Redmayne has admitted he is still shocked by his Oscars success.

Eddie Redmayne is still shocked by his Oscars success.

The 33-year-old Brit won the Academy Award for Best Actor earlier this year for his portrayal of Professor Stephen Hawking in 'The Theory of Everything' and despite having months to absorb his new-found status, Eddie remains in a state of disbelief.

Speaking about his coveted award, Eddie said: "I still can't believe it exists. It just sort of sits there looking very shiny."

Despite this, the award-winning actor insisted he's still prone to on-set gaffes.

He told the Daily Mail newspaper: "I think most actors are kind of brutally self-critical. So I came back from the Oscars and went straight into filming [new movie 'The Danish Girl']. I think I did some pretty shoddy work that day."

Meanwhile, Eddie also revealed he relished the "freedom" that came with his latest on-screen role, in which he plays Lili Elbe, one of the first known recipients of sex reassignment surgery.

He explained: "I sort of enjoyed the freedom of it, actually. I enjoyed exploring all of the different sides of my character.

"And one of the wonderful things that I can do, is that when you're playing a part you get to meet people and learn a huge amount. This film is the most wonderful learning experience."
