Black Friday: come on, guys, just go to these lovely markets

Black Friday: come on, guys, just go to these lovely markets

Independent markets in Edinburgh and Glasgow to help you avoid all this Black Friday nonsense

Black Friday: a day to pick up a slightly discounted electrical item from a large store chain, while a frantic stranger elbows you in the ribcage in their miserly attempt to pluck the thing from your cold, consumer-driven hands.

If that doesn't sound like your idea of a rip-roaring good time, but you still need to pick up some bits for Christmas, we reckon independent markets are a good shout. You've always wanted a pair of hand-knitted mittens and a personalised ceramic candle holder, right?

The Reap and Sew Market
This place has a pun in the title, which makes it automatically good. It is a not-for-profit, curated indie market, showcasing everything from festive food to crafts and gifts. It also raises money for local charities, and is an all-round good egg.

Out of the Blue Flea Market
