Simon Cowell is adamant 'The X Factor' still has at least another five years in it, despite critics branding it "tiring and predictable."
Simon Cowell is confident 'The X Factor' will grace television screens for at least another five years.
The music mogul, 56 - who started the show in 2004 - has brushed off speculation the ITV programme is "tiring" as he believes he'll still be on the judging panel when he's 60.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "Would I like to be celebrating my 60th with 'X Factor' still on air? Yes I would."
Although he believes the popular show will run for another half a decade, Simon thinks it has potential to stretch to another 10 years and has admitted he'll throw a big celebratory bash if it reaches the milestone in 2024.
He explained: "I wouldn't worry about the future of 'X Factor'. We're going to be fine. If we're sitting here in ten years' time we'll have a very large celebration."
He added: "Ten years on, to be getting ten million viewers in this day and age -- it's a miracle."
Meanwhile, despite critics branding the show "predictable", it seems producers aren't keen to shake up the format.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini recently admitted she had an idea for the Judges House round of the talent show, which she promised would have put the "public on the edge of their seats," but her suggestions were thrown out by the crew.
She said: "I did suggest a few changes that I know we couldn't do for different reasons. I would have given each judge one contestant from each category - one girl, one boy, a group and an over-25s.
"And then it would push you as a judge because you have to think of everybody, but it would be more exciting and have the public on the edge of their seats."
