Eamonn Holmes thinks work "will kill [him] at some point" and says he regularly only gets four hours sleep
Eamonn Holmes thinks work will eventually kill him.
The 'This Morning' presenter claims he regularly worked 18 hour days whilst he and wife Ruth Langsford filmed for 'Eamonn and Ruth: How the Other Half Lives', which he juggled with his other commitments including Sky News' breakfast show 'Sunrise'.
He said: "Every year I get a health check-up and the doctor says I'm still OK, but I think sleep deprivation is a very bad thing. I'm good at it, but I'm sure it will kill me at some point.
"I'm up at 4am and I do my job, then fit in lots of other things - sometimes I'm not home until 9pm. I get to the end of the day and think, 'Oh, I've got to watch 'House Of Cards' or 'Big Brother', or this movie, or this football match', and suddenly it's 11pm. Then I'm up again at 3am and so one day goes into the next."
And the 55-year-old television presenter credits his school PE teacher for keeping him going.
He told The Sun newspaper: "I used to be a middle-distance runner at school and slightly beyond, and it was brilliant. It stood by me for the rest of my life, because mentally it made me strong.
"When I felt sick, got a stitch or wanted to give up, I could hear my PE teacher in my ear - 'All the way, Holmes, all the way.' And to this day, if I'm tired, I think, 'All the way, Holmes, all the way.'"
