Mercury Prize 2015 – who are the nominees?

The shortlist for this year's Mercury Prize – the annual £20,000 award for the best album by British and Irish artists – have been revealed this morning. The 12 albums nominated were announced by Lauren Laverne at on her BBC 6Music radio show.

Florence and the Machine, C Duncan and Jamie xx are all in the running. Ghostpoet – who picked up his second nomination a year after he participated as a selection judge – Aphex Twin and Roisin Murphy have also been nominated.

The 2015 prize ceremony will take place in the Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House in London on Fri Nov 20, with the winner to be decided by the panel of judges on the night.
