Bryan Adams O2 date announced
Veteran Canadian rocker to play London in May 2016 as part of the Get Up tour
This article is from 2015.
Bryan Adams – the gravel-voiced, guitar-strummin', Leica-totin', black-t-shirt-wearin', animal-rights-supportin' icon of Canadian rock music – is to play London's O2 on Sat 7 May 2016, it was announced this morning.
Adams, whose 1984 album Reckless has sold 12 million copies and which still contains a disproportionate quantity of his hits (namely, 'Run To You', 'Summer of '69', 'Somebody', 'Heaven' and 'It's Only Love'), has a new album released this month. Get Up is produced by ELO honcho Jeff Lynne and co-written with longterm collaborator Jim Vallance.
The album's lead single 'You Belong To Me' features a video directed by Adams himself. Although the rocker first picked up a camera when the wrong photographer had been booked for a photo shoot, he turned out to be a bit of a natural. He's published three books of photographs, had six exhibitions in 2014 alone, and is popular with portrait subjects for his deftness with a camera and unassuming likeability.
His most recent book, 2014's highly praised Wounded: The Legacy of War, consists of images of wounded servicemen and servicewomen from the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan. But although the guy clearly deserved being given the Order of Canada for his charity work, we for our part have a soft spot for that duet he did with Melanie C.
Get Up! is released on Fri 23 Oct. Bryan Adams plays the O2 on Sat 7 May 2016. Tickets on sale from 9am Fri 9 Oct.
