The Great British Bake Off's Tamal Ray is gay
'The Great British Bake Off's Tamal Ray - who has become an unlikely heartthrob while competing on the show has admitted he's looking for a boyfriend rather than a girlfriend.
'The Great British Bake Off' star Tamal Ray has revealed he's gay.
The 28-year-old amateur baker has become an unlikely heartthrob while competing on the baking contest but has now broken the hearts of countless girls across the country by admitting he's looking for a boyfriend rather than a girlfriend.
Asked if he has a girlfriend, Tamal said: "I wouldn't have a girlfriend, I would have a boyfriend, but I am single at the moment. Although, yes, I have had a few offers on Twitter!"
Meanwhile, Tamal's fellow contestant Nadiya Hussain, 30 - who is studying for a degree in childhood and youth studies while raising her and her husband's three children - has opened up about challenging stereotypes by appearing on the show.
She told Radio Times magazine: "Originally, I was a bit nervous that perhaps people would look at me, a Muslim in a headscarf, and wonder if I could bake.
"But I hope that week by week people have realised that I can bake - and just because I'm not a stereotypical British person, doesn't mean that I am not into bunting, cake and tea.
"I'm just as British as anyone else, and I hope I have proved that. I think the show is a fantastic representation of British society today. The feedback I have had reveals how accepting people are of different cultures and religions. Now people know who I am, I can see how tolerant and accepting British society is."
