Michelle Dockery almost quit Downton Abbey
Michelle Dockery has confessed she thought about quitting her role as Lady Mary Crawley in 'Downton Abbey' after series three but couldn't bring herself to say goodbye
Michelle Dockery almost quit 'Downton Abbey' after series three.
The 33-year-old actress will say goodbye to her alter ego Lady Mary Crawley when the show comes to an end after six series later this year, but she admitted she considered walking away from the role some time ago.
She said: "There was a time after series three... a moment where I thought it was my time to go.
"But I couldn't bear the idea of not being a part of it."
And Michelle loves playing Lady Mary so much, she'd "jump at the chance" of returning for a movie.
Asked about the possibility of a 'Downton' film, she said: "I'd jump at the chance. It's certainly not something that's been discussed, as far as I know, but I'd imagine it would take very little for everyone to get involved."
While the brunette beauty loves the sense of "freedom" from no longer being tied to the show, she also admits the prospect of not having regular work is "terrifying".
She told Look magazine: "It's a good feeling. There is a sense of freedom, but I'll miss the security. That's a little terrifying. I'm a working actor, after all."
