Hugh Jackman considers his career success a "mystery".

The 46-year-old star, who's appeared in a string of box-office successes, has admitted good fortune and "fate" have played a central part in his rise.

Speaking at Claridge's hotel in London earlier today (22.09.15) to promote his new movie 'Pan', Hugh told BANG Showbiz: "A lot of [career success] is a mystery. In hindsight I can look back and for something like 'Wolverine', another actor was cast and I'd auditioned and I didn't get the part."

However, Hugh secured the iconic role of Wolverine in 1999 after Dougray Scott was unable to take up the part.

He said: "The other actor ended up being injured and stuck on a film and I happened to be in Los Angeles at the time actually organising things around the adoption of my son.

"I can look back and go, maybe it's fate or something in there. Or call it luck whatever you want.

"Of course there are moments like that for all of us in life, good and bad. I suppose as an actor, the only thing you control is working hard, having a lot of fun and if you do have a chance, making the most of it."
