Biffy are joined in an all-Scottish line-up by Idlewild and Honeyblood

Biffy Clyro have been announced as the headline act for this year's Concert in the Gardens in what will be the band's only live performance this year.

After releasing their most recent album, Opposities, in 2015, the 20-year-old Ayrshire band have headlined a number of festivals including Reading, Leeds and T in the Park.

Following on from their last Hogmanay headline in 2010, the Biffy will be joined by fellow Scottish bands Idlewild and Honeyblood.

Idlewild, also formed 20 years ago, this year released their seventh album, Everything Ever Written, which was longlisted for the 2015 Scottish Album of the Year Awards.

Relative newcomers Honeyblood also found success with this year's SAY Awards, making it onto the shortlist.

Concert in the Gardens, hosted beneath Edinburgh Castle, has previously played host to Pet Shop Boys, Primal Scream, Simple Minds, Blondie and Calvin Harris.
