Anne Robinson has made the decision to step down as the main presenter on BBC One's consumer programme 'Watchdog' after 15 years
Anne Robinson has quit 'Watchdog'.
The 70-year-old presenter had decided to step down from the BBC One consumer programme after 15 years.
She said in a statement: "It's been an honour to be part of the most important consumer show in Britain."
The announcement comes following the success of Anne's new BBC One show 'Britain's Spending Secrets', which pulled in an impressive 5.7 million viewers and has now been commissioned for a new series to begin production in the autumn.
During her 15 years on 'Watchdog', Anne and the rest of the ream have taken on some of world's biggest companies which, at one point, resulted in 10 of Britain's biggest corporations meeting to discuss what they considered to be unfair treatment by the programme.
BBC One controller Charlotte Moore shared: "Annie is a much-treasured part of the BBC One family and I'm grateful for everything she has done on 'Watchdog' for nearly 15 years. I'm looking forward to her returning to the channel with a new factual series next year."
Despite Anne's decision to step down, 'Watchdog' will be back with a new series this autumn with Matt Allwright and Chris Hollins returning as part of the new presenting team.
