Ricky Rayment was arrested "on suspicion of actual bodily harm".
The former 'The Only Way Is Essex' star was reportedly arrested for assault after making a personal appearance at a nightclub in Brighton last weekend, despite him insisting it was him who was jumped by five men.
A friend of Ricky's said: "Ricky was left shaken after being set upon in a random attack."
However, as the 25-year-old star's alleged "victim" refused to provide the police with a statement, Ricky was later "de-arrested".
A spokesman for Sussex Police told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "A 25-year-old man from Chigwell in Essex was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm following a fight with another man.
"Police officers on patrol were alerted to the fight around 2.25 am.
"As the situation calmed, the victim of the assault declined to provide a statement and the man was de-arrested.
"He left the area immediately."
Ricky's bust-up comes after he was reported to have split from his 'Geordie Shore' star fiancee Marnie Simpson last month.
