Fearne Cotton worries about children on social media
Fearne Cotton has admitted she's worried about her children growing up in the era of social media but believes her step-daughter Lola is a "smart cookie".
Fearne Cotton is worried about her children using social media.
The former BBC Radio 1 DJ is currently expecting her second child with husband Jesse Wood and has admitted she's not looking forward to her newborn and two-year-old son Rex growing up and using social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
Asked if she has any fears about raising children today, Fearne - who is also step-mum to Jesse's children Arthur, 13, and Lola, nine - said: "Social media. I didn't have it growing up and I'm really grateful for that. You can't restrict it because when they get to a certain age they're all going to be on the internet. I think as long as you're communicating at home about the good and bad sides then I think you're fine.
"Lola, my stepdaughter, is a really smart cookie. She's not going to take anything from anyone; I don't really have any worries about her growing up and having much pressure on her."
The 33-year-old star also confessed becoming a mother has been a lot more difficult than she expected.
Fearne told Look magazine: "You know it's going to be amazing and brilliant, which it is. But you don't really think about the practical elements or the level that you will worry about your kid. It's different to how I perceived it to be, but in every sense I love being a mum."
