Purple cow heads to pastures new, following stints in London and Edinburgh
Underbelly’s unique performance venue Udderbelly, an upside-down, purple cow by the name of Violet, is making her first trip overseas to Hong Kong.
Underbelly heads to Asia in December to take part in the second year of the Great European Carnival, an extravaganza of rides, games, live entertainment and international food and drink. Udderbelly Festival Hong Kong will run from Fri 4 Dec 2015 until Sun 14 Feb 2016, offering shows across Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Chinese New Year.
The programme includes circus, dance, comedy, cabaret, music and children’s shows. Artists and performances from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe will be on the bill alongside UK acts, Hong Kong talent and local language performances.
Underbelly has previously held Udderbelly Festival London, and is an annual fixture at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In Hong Kong, the big cow will be located on the Central Harbourfront in the central business district. The festival will also feature Udderbelly’s usual surrounding pasture area, complete with alfresco bars and local eateries.
Programme information and tickets will be available at the end of August.
