Emmys 2015: where can I watch the best comedy series in the UK?

Veep

The Oscars for the small screen are fast approaching, and we thought we'd find out where to watch the 2015 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series in the UK. Whether you opt for Modern Family or Veep (or all seven), you can now binge-watch yourself silly. Also check out where you can watch the best drama series. Enjoy!

Louie

What is it?
A look at the life of Louie, a stand-up comedian and divorced dad of two in NYC.
Who do I know in it?
Louis C.K. is both the creator and star of the show. He was a writer for Late Night with Conan O’Brien in the 90s.
How many series are there?
Five, and there has been no word yet as to whether it will return for a sixth.
Where can I watch it?
The Fox show is not currently available for free on a streaming service. Series 1–4 are available to purchase on Amazon Prime, iTunes and Google Play, however.

Modern Family

What is it?
An unseen filmmaker documents the comedic antics of three very different but related families.
Who do I know in it?
It was co-created by Christopher Lloyd, who previously worked on Frasier, and stars Ed O’Neill, best known for playing Al Bundy on Married With Children.
How many series are there?
Six, with the seventh due for release later this year.
Where can I watch it?
Series 1–5 are available on Sky on Demand and Now TV. Season 6 can be purchased from Google Play, iTunes and Amazon Prime Instant Video.

Parks and Recreation

What is it?
The hilarious trials and tribulations of an Indiana town’s public officials, as they attempt to make their city a better place.
Who do I know in it?
Queen of American comedy Amy Poehler plays Leslie Knope, while Chris Pratt, star of Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, plays Andy Dwyer.
How many series are there?
Seven – the final series aired in the US earlier this year.
Where can I watch it?
Series 1–3 are available to stream on Amazon Prime. The other seasons are also finally coming to the UK with series 4 due to begin on Mon 27 Jul on Dave.

Silicon Valley

What is it?
A comedic look at six young men that start a company in California’s Silicon Valley.
Who do I know in it?
Although the actors aren’t known for much for their other work, one of the co–creators Mike Judge, did work on Office Space and Beavis and Butthead Do America.
How many series are there?
Two, with the third due to air in April 2016.
Where can I watch it?
Season 1–2 are available on Now TV. Season 1 is also available on Sky On Demand.

Transparent

What is it?
The story follows an LA family, who have just discovered that their father is transgender.
Who do I know in it?
Jill Solloway, the creator, also worked on Six Feet Under, while Jeffrey Gambor, who stars as the Maura Pfefferman, featured in popular comedy Arrested Development.
How many series are there?
One, with the second season due to air this year. It also already been renewed for a third season.
Where can I watch it?
Picking up a trick from their Netflix rivals, this is an Amazon original series, meaning you can watch all the episodes on Amazon Prime Instant Video.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

What is it?
The show focuses on Kimmy who moves to NYC after being trapped underground as part of a cult for 15 years.
Who do I know in it?
It was created by the incredibly talented Tina Fey, who is known for 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live. Kimmy is played by Ellie Kemper, who featured in the US version of The Office.
How many series are there?
One, but the second season is due to arrive next year.
Where can I watch it?
It’s a Netflix original so all the episode are available to subscribers.

Veep

What is it?
Former Senator Selina Meyer becomes Vice President, and finds it is nothing like what she hoped it would be.
Who do I know in it?
Armando Iannucci created the show, who is also responsible for popular British political comedy The Thick of It. It stars Julia Louise Dreyfuss, who was also in Seinfeld.
How many series are there?
Four, but HBO have renewed it for a fifth season, due to premiere in 2016.
Where can I watch it?
Series 1–4 are available on Sky On Demand.
