Coldplay's Viva title

Coldplay's new album will be called 'Viva La Viva'.

The band have decided to name the LP, which was previously rumoured to be titled 'Prospekt', after a painting by acclaimed Mexican artist Frida Kahlo which means 'Long Live Life'.

Frontman Chris Martin explained: "Frida went through a lot of s**t, and then she started a big painting in her house that said 'Viva La Vida'. I just loved the boldness of it."

Chris insists he isn't bothered what people think of the name.

The singer, who put up with a lot of criticism after he and his wife Gwyneth Paltrow called their three-year-old daughter Apple, said: "I've been through this before, naming something or someone and everyone saying 'That's a terrible name', but then saying, 'Well, f**k you, that's what it's called, and I'll be proved to be right eventually.' "

Frida, famed for her mono-brow, was portrayed by actress Salma Hayek in 2002 film 'Frida'.

She died in 1954 at the age of 47 after battling polio.
