Everything Everything - Get to Heaven

(RCA)

On this third album’s evidence, Manchester’s Everything Everything will only launch their stock even further as post-post-modern channelers of rock’s already convoluted web of cross-genre contaminations, feeding R&B and math rock to one another on ‘To the Blade’, fusing classic house and UK garage on ‘Distant Past’ and introducing breezy tropicalia on ‘Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread’ and something approaching industrial on ‘Fortune 500’. Delivered with an arched eyebrow, no question, but it’s a masterful extended piece of pop invention.
