Natalie Portman is reportedly in talks to star in 'The Basis Of Sex'.
The Oscar winner is wanted to play Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a real life Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, in the film.
Portman is the favourite for the lead role, while 'Diary Of A Teenage Girl' director Marielle Heller is in negotiations to helm the project - which is based on a script written by Daniel Stiepleman.
The movie will be a biopic focusing on Ginsburg's extraordinary career and her tireless campaigning for women's rights.
The judge co-founded the first law journal on gender equality, she was the first woman professor tenured at Columbia university and when former president Bill Clinton nominated her to the Supreme Court in 1993 Ginsburg became the second female justice and the first Jewish female justice.
There is currently no start date for shooting to commence on 'The Basis Of Sex'.
Portman, 33, has been working on her directorial debut 'A Tale Of Love And Darkness' and she will star in 'Jane Got A Gun' and 'Knight Of Cups'.
