Daredevil season two confirmed
Marvel's superhero series will return to Netflix in 2016
Given the critical and fan response to Netflix's first collaboration with Marvel on Daredevil, it should come as no surprise that the superhero series will be back for a second season. Charlie Cox will return as our eponymous blind vigilante with Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson also confirmed. However, it will be all change behind the scenes as new showrunners will step up as Doug Petrie (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) take charge.
Steven S DeKnight (Spartacus) helped steer the show into more adult territory when Drew Goddard left to concentrate on the up coming Spider-Man feature. Daredevil certainly wasn't for kids, and this more mature direction struck a cord drawing comparisons to The Wire and The Dark Knight.
DeKnight stated: 'While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season, I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.'
Petrie and Ramirez both had writing credits on season one so we should be in safe hands, while Goddard will stay on as Executive Producer alongside Jeph Loeb (Marvel's Agents of SHIELD).
Netflix's association with Marvel continues with AKA Jessica Jones late this year (date tbc, though production shots recently emerged) before Luke Cage and Iron Fist and team-up mini-series The Defenders in 2016.
