Riverside Festival 2015 hits Glasgow last weekend of May
Electric Frog and Pressure pray for good weather on the west coast
This article is from 2015.
Electric Frog and Pressure, the two forces behind the Riverside Festival, have done that really clever thing of building an association with their alfresco clubbing mini-festival and the official start of the Glasgow summer. Taking place on 29-30 May, and crossing their fingers for good weather, this year's event honours their commitment to getting, well, bigger and better.
Hosted in association with Pressure once again, not only does the event expand into a three-stager for the first time, but two of the stages on this year’s bill will be presented by Sven Vath’s Cocoon, an Ibiza-friendly seal of approval which could well take the weekender to the next level.
Making the welcome decision to hold the event on the Friday and Saturday – leaving Sunday for sleeping it off – the main draw is seeing this international display of credible talent on the banks of the Clyde.
As well as Vath himself, it’s a Pressure-led techno contingent which holds sway, with other big names including Ricardo Villalobos, techno supergroup Siriusmodeselektor, Berlin’s Len Faki, Detroit techno old-stagers Carl Craig and Robert Hood and Dirtybird’s Julio Bashmore.
Also look out for long-time friends of Glasgow Joy Orbison and Prosumer, Russian star Nina Kraviz, Hessle Audio founder Ben UFO and Blawan and Pariah’s Karenn project.
The Riverside Festival takes place at the Riverside Museum, Glasgow, Fri 29 & Sat 30 May.
**Correction: this article originally stated that Riverside Festival was taking place Spring bank holiday weekend, however it is taking place the weekend after the bank holiday.**
