Bradley Cooper is set to make his directorial debut on a remake of 'A Star is Born'.
The 40-year-old actor is in line to step behind the camera for the first time to re-imagine the story which has already been brought to life on the big screen on three previous occasions.
According to Variety, Cooper is currently in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the proposed project and if he accepts the offer to helm the film, he will also produce it through his 22 Green company along with Jon Peters, Billy Gerber and Basil Iwanyk.
It is believed that the latest remake will be based on William Wellman's original 1937 film which starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, and focused on a fading movie star who helps a young aspiring actress make it to the big time.
The film won two Oscars, including Best Writing for Wellman and Robert Carson.
Clint Eastwood - who directed Cooper in the Academy Award nominated 'American Sniper - had been planning his own re-telling of 'A Star is Born' with Beyoncé in a lead role.
The project almost got off the ground in 2011 but it was derailed when the singer-and-actress got pregnant with her daughter Blue Ivy, meaning Eastwood turned his attention to 'Jersey Boys'.
The 1954 musical version of 'A Star is Born' - which earned six Oscar nominations - featured Judy Garland and James Mason, while the 1976 rock musical reimagining starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
